Pearl Pigment for Automotive Paint & OEM Custom Coatings
Kalvin Impex supplies weather-resistant, optical-grade pearl pigment for automotive paint formulations. Engineered from synthetic fluorphlogopite and ultra-flat crystal platelets, our automotive pearls deliver deep three-dimensional luster, brilliant color travel, and exterior weatherability compliant with global OEM automotive standards.
Weather-Resistant Crystal Interference Pearl Pigments
Automotive exterior environments subject paints to severe UV radiation, high humidity, thermal cycling, and chemical road salts. Our automotive pearl pigments are manufactured with protective inorganic silica encapsulation and reactive silane functionalization. This dual-pass passivation prevents photocatalytic TiO2 activation, eliminating clearcoat hazing, blistering, and moisture entrapment.
QUV Weather Testing
Tested across 3,000+ hours of accelerated QUV weathering with over 95% gloss retention.
Non-Conductive Mica
Safe for radar, LiDAR, and ADAS sensor-transparent automotive bumper covers and trim.

Compatibility with Basecoats, Clears, and Powder Coatings
Whether formulating waterborne factory OEM systems, custom solvent refinish pearls, or thermoset wheel powder coats, our pigments disperse smoothly without agglomeration:
Solventborne 2K Clears
Easily stirred into intercoat binders and clear coats. Platelets lay flat parallel to substrate for mirror-like refraction.
Waterborne OEM Systems
Hydrophilic surface-treated grades designed for rapid wetting, low viscosity build, and excellent shear stability.
Thermoset Powder Coating
Heat stable past 600°C. Ideal for electrostatic bonding onto polyester and epoxy powders for alloy wheels and calipers.
Micron Gradations for Smooth Luster vs. Sparkling Flake
Smooth OEM Factory Satin
Creates an elegant, liquid-metal sheen without perceptible grain. Ideal for executive vehicle colors and luxury sedans.
Dynamic Tri-Coat Finishes
The worldwide OEM benchmark for white pearl tri-coats, metallic candy accents, and contrasting shadow depth.
Custom Show Car Flake
Intense diamond flare under direct sunlight with vibrant multi-angle prismatic highlights for custom automotive restoration.
Frequently Asked Questions: Automotive Pearl Pigment
How do you mix pearl pigment powder into automotive basecoats?
Automotive pearl pigment is mixed into an intercoat clear or binder basecoat at recommended concentrations of 15 to 25 grams per sprayable quart (or roughly 1.5% to 3% by weight). Spray 2 to 3 medium-wet coats over an appropriate groundcoat (black for dramatic contrast, white for crisp pastel shimmer), followed by a 2K polyurethane clearcoat for UV protection.
Do your automotive pearl pigments withstand intense sunlight and weathering?
Yes. Our automotive-grade pearl pigments feature specialized weather-treatment coatings (dense SiO2 and silane surface chemistry) that inhibit photocatalytic activity, preventing degradation, gloss loss, chalking, or yellowing under harsh outdoor UV exposure.
Are these pigments compatible with waterborne and solventborne automotive paint systems?
Yes. The hydrophobic surface treatment makes our pearl pigments universally compatible with solventborne acrylics, polyurethanes, 2K clears, and modern waterborne automotive OEM basecoats without flocculation.
Can automotive pearl pigments be used in powder coating formulations?
Yes. With thermal stability exceeding 600°C, our crystal synthetic mica pigments are routinely dry-blended or bonded into polyester and polyurethane powder coatings for automotive rims, chassis parts, and motorcycle components.
